Tree Trimming & Pruning
Structural pruning following ANSI A300 standards — elevating canopy health, clearance, and aesthetic form.
Proper tree trimming is crucial for the overall health and longevity of your trees. Our team of arborists are experts in identifying the pruning needs of any tree.
Trees are an investment, and it is important to take good care of them to ensure they thrive in their environment and add value to your property for years to come. Regular tree trimming helps us achieve this goal while also preventing potential issues in the future.
Pruning young trees helps establish a healthy limb structure, promoting long-term health and longevity. Pruning more established trees allows for better light and air circulation through the crown, which can help minimize storm damage and benefits the health of the tree and the vegetation beneath the canopy.

Improper pruning can pose risks to the tree, potentially reducing its lifespan. Once a tree is pruned incorrectly, it becomes costly and difficult to rectify. Having your tree assessed and trimmed by our skilled team is the best way to ensure its long and healthy life.
We Adhere to ANSI Guidelines
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has established guidelines for tree pruning and trimming that we follow to ensure safe practices and the well-being of your trees. These standards for tree pruning include four main sections: crown cleaning, thinning, raising, and reducing (performed only when necessary).
Crown Cleaning
Cleaning the crown of your tree involves the removal of dead, broken, or diseased branches throughout the entire tree.
Raising the Tree
Raising your tree provides enough vertical clearance for walking or mowing underneath. Additionally, the raising of your tree can account for the necessary clearance of traffic along a street or driveway.
Thinning the Tree
Thinning the tree involves carefully removing living plant material from dense areas within the tree, helping to reduce weight and allowing wind to pass through more safely. We take pride in adhering to these standards as it sets us apart and helps us keep the trees in our community strong and healthy. At Sendero Arbor Care, we strive for a job well done. Once we complete your tree pruning, we will happily remove the debris using our trailers or chipper trucks. If you prefer to keep any of the wood for your use, such as firewood, just let us know, and we will be happy to accommodate your request. Our goal is to leave your trees in beautiful condition and your yard in better shape than when we first arrived.
Crown Reduction
Crown reduction involves selectively pruning branches to decrease the overall size of a tree. This type of pruning results in a balanced branch structure that is shorter and has a reduced horizontal spread, while maintaining the tree’s natural form. Proper crown reduction, when combined with regular, minimal pruning, is the most cost-efficient way to ensure the long-term health and vigor of your trees.
To achieve crown reduction, branch leaders or branch terminals (the endpoint of a branch) are pruned back at an intersection with an existing lateral branch, rather than at a random point between branches. The lateral branches selected for this purpose need to have a diameter large enough to become a new branch leader or terminal.
The art and science of crown reduction lies in selecting the right branch leaders to prune back and the right lateral branches to become new leaders, creating a natural and strong branch structure. This careful transition from large- to small-diameter branches is a hallmark of professional pruning. Each pruned branch is part of a careful plan to reduce and shape the tree’s crown with minimal cuts, as the arborist visualizes the results of the pruning before making them.
